FREE PUBLIC EVENT: The Hamilton Science Faith Forum and the CSCA present a lecture by Lowell Bliss (Environmental Leadership, William Carey International University) and George McKibbon (Engineering Practice and Technology, McMaster University).
Climate Change in the Anthropocene
Our relationship with God’s Creation is changing. Lowell takes his generation’s models of discipleship, The Navigator’s wheel of Bible study, prayer, witness, and fellowship, and describes how the Christian Climate Observers Program and the Climate Intercessors are reconceptualizing these practices for the Anthropocene. George describes how climate change affects creation care in the Hamilton area, based on 50 years of environmental land use planning and design practice, and reflection upon Scripture and philosophy.
Lowell Bliss is the director of the Eden Vigil Institute for Environmental Leadership at William Carey International University. He also co-directs the Christian Climate Observers Program and is the author of two books, Environmental Missions: Planting Churches and Trees, and People, Trees, and Poverty. Lowell recently attended COP29 in Azerbaijan.
George McKibbon is a Registered Professional Planner. He has worked for private and public sector clients, Aboriginal and Treaty organizations and citizen’s groups. He was an adjunct professor in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, University of Guelph, and is now a sessional lecturer in the W. Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology, McMaster University.
