The “Daniel Diet”? A Biblical and Scientific View on Nutrition

Food is essential to life. Yet, there is much confusion and conflicting information about what we should eat—or, from a Christian perspective, how best we should care for our created bodies. In this presentation, we first examine biblical teaching on self-care as well as what the Bible does and does not teach about food and nutrition. Then we present a summary of scientific evidence for dietary choices (hint, primarily plant based like Daniel and friends) that prevent and reverse many chronic diseases. Finally, we consider implications of this for Christian living.

Subhas Ganguli is a gastroenterologist who has an interest in the benefits of a plant-based diet.

E. Janet Warren is a family physician and theologian with a special interest in the integration of science and faith.
