The Future of Ecotheology
Christians today seek a theology broad enough not only to critically integrate modern science but also to face major challenges like climate change and political divisions. Based in a trinitarian and Christological framework, this talk outlines a theology of “deep reconciliation” which argues that human salvation is not only a matter of right relation to God but also to land, institutions, and other creatures. In passing it will note points of compatibility and conflict with science.
Adrian Langdon is Director of the Leadership Center at The Presbyterian College and an affiliate faculty member at McGill’s School of Religious Studies. He is a constructive theologian interested in a generous orthodoxy that creatively and practically responses to contemporary contexts. This talk draws from material in his most recent book, Barth and Ecotheology: The Electing God and the Community of Creation (Routledge, 2025).
