Q&A #8 – David Haitel (27 Feb 2023)

In Blogs, CSCA 50 Qs by Rebecca Dielschneider

For the past 50 years, the Canadian Scientific and Christian Affiliation has facilitated discussions about science and Christian faith in Canada. As part of our 50th-anniversary celebrations, we asked 50 CSCA members to comment on their personal connections to science, scripture, and Canadian scenery. We will share these contributions throughout 2023 in the hope that you will find them engaging and encouraging.

CSCA member of the week: Rev. David Haitel, University of Alberta (M.Ed. in Science Education)

1. Why did you choose your scientific discipline?

I love evolutionary science and see it as God’s natural mechanism for creating all life on earth. It also helps students break out of the false dichotomy and allows them to worship God through his Words (Scripture) and His Works (Nature).

2. What is one of your favourite Bible verses and why?

1 John 1:7 – Christ is our Saviour sent by God to redeem us from sin.

3. Which Canadian city or landscape do you love exploring and why?

Edmonton, Alberta. I love the winters and all seasons, exploring our wonderful wildlife, and cheering on our sports teams.
